Meet The Team

David D. Ward - Regional Vice President

David began his insurance career with the Prudential after graduating from Hamilton College in 1977. He subsequently obtained an MBA degree from the University of Virginia and spent the next twenty years in marketing, sales and senior management positions in several industries before joining Iroquois. In addition to his responsibility for the Iroquois South territory, David manages Iroquois’ marketing function. He and his wife live in Charleston.

JoAnn Currie - Regional Manager

JoAnn Currie joined Iroquois in 2015 to serve our members in central and eastern North Carolina. She is a native North Carolinian and has enjoyed many successful years as an insurance professional in the state. Prior to joining Iroquois, JoAnn worked for The Hartford as a Senior Sales Representative and was awarded The Hartford’s prestigious “Honor Circle” for exceptional sales performance for four consecutive years. Prior to joining The Hartford, JoAnn worked with BB&T Insurance Services for 16 years, holding various positions in personal and commercial lines Sales and Service, Management, Business and Client Relations, Training, and Operations. Her experience and successes have been a great asset to our members in North Carolina. JoAnn and her husband Kim live in Clayton, NC. In her spare time, JoAnn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, golf, and volunteer activities with the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mark Askins - Regional Manager - SC and western NC

Mark Askins, a Columbia, South Carolina native with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, serves as a regional manager for South Carolina and western North Carolina. Mark spent over 20 years with The Hartford, most recently as their Richmond, Va., branch manager prior to joining Iroquois. He previously held auditing, underwriting, and management positions with Hartford in the Carolinas, Minnesota and Washington, DC. Mark, who graduated from Clemson but is a Gamecock at heart, lives in Columbia with his wife and two daughters.
